Uninstall app and remove macro
Purpose
This page explains the expected impact of uninstalling Easy Heading Macro (Floating Table of Contents) from a Confluence Cloud site, and how customers can remove existing Easy Heading Macro references from pages before uninstalling the app.
Summary
Uninstalling the app disables Easy Heading Macro functionality, but it does not delete Confluence pages, spaces, attachments, comments, users, permissions, or unrelated Confluence data.
Existing Easy Heading Macro references are stored inside Confluence page content. They are not automatically removed when the app is uninstalled. If customers want to remove those macro references before uninstalling, they can use the Admin Bulk Remove tool.
What happens after uninstalling the app
After uninstalling Easy Heading Macro:
Existing Easy Heading macros on pages will no longer render.
The floating table of contents generated by the app will no longer be displayed.
App admin pages and tools will no longer be available.
Quick edit, default parameters, bulk add/remove, export rendering, and migration-related tools will no longer be available.
Confluence pages and unrelated Confluence data are not deleted.
Existing macro references generally remain in the Confluence page storage unless they are removed before uninstalling.
What data is affected
Confluence data
The app does not delete customer Confluence pages, spaces, attachments, comments, permissions, users, or unrelated product data.
The macro references and macro parameters are stored as part of the Confluence page content. If the app is uninstalled, those references may remain in the page content, but the app will no longer render them.
If the app is reinstalled later on the same site, existing macros are expected to work again, assuming the page content has not been manually changed and the same app is reinstalled.
App-specific data
The app may store app-specific configuration data, such as:
Site-level app settings
Default macro parameters
Installation/authentication metadata
Migration operation metadata
This data is related only to Easy Heading Macro. It is not unrelated Confluence product data.
Do not promise a fixed retention period unless we have a formal policy or DPA reference for that customer. If a customer requests deletion of app-specific data, handle it as a separate data deletion request.
Recommended option before uninstalling
If the customer wants to remove Easy Heading Macro references from pages before uninstalling the app, recommend using the Admin Bulk Remove tool first.
This tool updates selected Confluence pages and removes Easy Heading Macro references from their page content.

Replace <your-site> with the customer’s Confluence site name.
Example:
How to use Admin Bulk Remove
Log in as a Confluence site administrator.
Open the Admin Bulk Remove URL.
Select the user mode if prompted.
Select the target spaces.
Click Scan.
Review the pages detected with Easy Heading Macro.
Click Remove from pages.
Stay on the page until the process is completed.
Review any failed pages if the tool reports failures.
Important notes
The tool modifies Confluence page content by removing Easy Heading Macro references.
The process may create new page versions.
Customers should run this before uninstalling the app, because the admin tool will not be available after uninstall.
If there are many pages, the tool may process them in batches.
Customers should keep the page open until the operation completes.
If some pages fail to update, they may require permission checks, page status checks, or manual review.
